AATREPS Conferences

The maiden edition of the Annual International Conference of the Association of African Traditional Religion and Philosophy Scholars (AATREPS) held on August 26, 2013 recorded a tremendous success.
The theme of the conference which was African Traditional Religion and Philosophy and Sustainable Development created a conducive academic environment for critical multi-disciplinary discourse that x-rayed themes in the broad areas of African ideologies.
The fact remains that despite contemporary misconceptions on Africa’s belief system by the forces of globalization, evidence remains that Africa’s heritage is a veritable force that aided African civilization. The conference opened a forum to explore and revitalize the seemingly lost sense of African values and their contributions to sustainable development.
The conference was attended by sixty seven (67) participants from various universities, twenty four (24) papers were presented and fourteen book chapters were published because, many presenters did not meet up with the submission requirements. Since then, the Association has been organizing successful international conferences annually as itemized below:
